Ayr Gold Cup Trainers

There are certain trainers who always manage to get their horses right for the big races and the Ayr Gold Cup is always one of them, in its long and illustrious history to date we have seen some of the games great names win the race and it is one that always takes pride of place on any Trainers CV.

David Nicholls

David Nicholls has become synonymous with the Ayr Gold Cup in the 21st century having won the race five times between 2000 and 2008 including twice with the same horse, Funfair Wane won the race in 2002 and 2004 and he remains the only two-time winner of the race in recent history. His first win came in 2000 when he won with  Bahamian Pirate with his most recent coming in 2008 with Regal Parade who won with odds 18/1 out of stall 20. Nicholls seems to have the knack of getting his horses in perfect shape for the Ayr Gold Cup so any horse that he enters in 2010 should be taken seriously by punters.

Richard Hannon

Richard Hannon is a two-time winner of the Ayr Gold Cup with Wildwood Flower in 1997 and in 2005 with Presto Shinko with Seb Sanders on board, Hannon is a former Champion Trainer and always has his horses in top shape when it matters for the big races like the Ayr feature. Hannon has won countless Group 1 Races across Europe including the 2000 Guineas on three occasions, the Coronation Stakes, the Nunthorpe Stakes and the Sussex Stakes among many many others. This means that his horses should always be watched and he is likely to have a top runner for the 2010 Ayr Gold Cup.
