Ayr Gold Cup Jockeys

When it comes to jockeys there are certain ones that have reached the pinnacle of the sport and manage to get that extra performance out of a horse that most jockeys could only dream of doing. They are the men that will take the best rides in the Ayr Gold Cup each season and we are going to be having a closer look at those top jockeys who are likely to feature at Ayr in 2010 in the big race.

Frankie Dettori

Frankie is every one's favourite Jockey and possibly the most famous famous man in the sport so is always a popular rider to back in any big race and the Ayr gold Cup is no different. Frankie should not be under estimated as a jockey however as he has won pretty much every race the sport has to offer and is one of the great horsemen to have ever sat on a saddle. Dettori has won among many others the Derby, the Arc De Triomphe on three occasions, the Irish Derby and the Ascot Gold Cup on four occasions. He also rode Jimmy Styles to the Ayr Gold Cup in 2009 for what was somewhat surprisingly his first ever win in the race, he said at the time he was desperate to win the race and he will no doubt be back in 2010 going for his second win in the race.

Kieren Fallon

Kieren Fallon is a racing superstar that is widely considered to be one of the greatest Jockeys to have ever ridden a horse, as we all know he is not without controversy over the years and has just returned from an 18 month Racing ban in the UK in September 2009. Now that Fallon has returned to Racing he is eager to get many more big wins under his belt and he will no doubt be targeting the Ayr Gold Cup in 2010 as he aims for the Champion Jockey title once more. Fallon has one Ayr Gold cup under his belt at this stage and that was in 1999 when he rode Grangeville to glory for Trainer Ian Balding.
