Ayr Racecourse

Ayr Racecourse

Ayr Racecourse is the host track for the Ayr Gold Cup and is perhaps the most famous racecourse in Scotland holding some special races throughout the year, it also hosts the Scottish Grand National during the National Hunt season as it is one of those rare tracks that holds both flat and jump meetings.

The course is on Whitletts Road in Ayr and was first opened in 1907, since then it has grown in stature and holds some of the highlights of the racing season across the UK and Ireland.

The track is a left-handed track of 13 furlongs but of course it has a straight run of half a mile where you will see the Ayr Gold Cup finish, it also hosts the Ayr Gold Cup Festival in September which hosts the big race as well as the Silver and Bronze Cups. Ayr is a popular track with punters and trainers as it has proven on countless occasions and looks set to continue to hold the big meetings going forward.
