Ayr Gold Cup 2008 Result

Regal Parade picked up the 2008 Ayr Gold Cup in fine style for trainer Dandy Nicholls who continued his remarkable strike rate in the race, this win meant he had picked up the Ayr gold Cup five times in nine years. The horse was ridden by William Carson who is the Grandson of the legendary Willie Carson, it was by far the biggest success of his fledgling career to date and he was ecstatic with the win.

Regal Parade was not well fancied as they set off with odds of 18/1 now looking cracking value but he looked in good shape throughout and went clear when asked for the final push. Trailing in behind was the 8/1 shot Tanjeed who himself pipped Confuchias for the place, down in 4th was Knot In Wood who ran well at 20/1 for the each/way money.

The favourite, Advanced who won the race in 2007 was nowhere to be seen and appeared to struggle on the ground as he went for his second successive win in the race.
